General & Use:
Bromosol is a single component solution. It is a biocide based on the oxidizing source of Bromine. The product yields to improved results in alkaline cooling systems especially compared to Sodium Hypopchlorite. Bromosol is free of Chlorine and has a wide range of application.
Bromosol inhibits the microbiological growth and eliminates existing micro-organisms, like bacteria, fungi, and algae. It is also active in the control of Legionella pneumophila bacteria, which causes Legionnaire’s disease (Legionellosis).
Compared to conventional treatment for alkaline cooling systems (Sodium Bromide with Chlorine gas
resp. Bleach) there is no need for an expensive mixing station (including two dosing pumps) but just a single dosing pump. The monitoring can easily be done by Halogen sensors.
Typical Properties:
Appearance | Clear Yellow-Orange Solution |
Available Br as Br2 17.0% | 16.1-17.9 |
Available Br calculated as Cl2 7.6% | 7.2-8.0 |
pH | >12.5 |
Solubility
Bromosol is miscible with water in all proportions.
Incompatibility
Bromosol is a strong oxidizer and should not be stored near reducing agents or strong acids.
Flammability and Explosivity
Bromosol is non-flammable.
Compatibility
In normal use concentrations, Bromosol solutions are compatible with commonly used materials of construction of cooling systems. In its neat form, Bromosol is compatible with polypropylene, high density polyethylene, Teflon®, polyvinyl chloride and Viton®.
Packaging
Bromosol is supplied in 20 kg plastic containers, in 200 kg drums and Intermediate Bulk Containers – IBCs.
